Beginnings and Endings
Hello Friends, Collaborators, and Supporters,
In the way of a brief update, we proudly unveiled a new large-scale, community-engaged public artwork on June 20, 2012, with our partners at Central Toronto Toronto Community Health Centres (photos will soon be posted); Tristan and I gave a talk and presentation on our Memorial Project with Bleecker Street Co-op at the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada Conference and AGM in Niagara Falls on June 8, 2012; Tristan has entered the final phase of creation and production on 'trace' -- an interdisciplinary performance art and sound installation with collaborator Moynan King -- more details soon -- that will open in August; I've been awarded support form Ontario Arts Council's Arts Education Program for my third annual creative writing residency with the Triangle Program, Canada's first and only high school for LGBTTQ spectrum high school.
Most significantly, we are mourning the passing of our friend Kyle Scanlon. Kyle contributed to a number of Red Dress Productions' community engaged public artwork projects including Flux (519 Community Centre, 2010) and Dwelling (Bleecker Co-operative Memorial (2012). Kyle is sorely missed. He has touched so many by his acts of kindness, bravery, and compassionate care.
We'd like to thank the folks at Trans Pulse for this thoughtful appreciation of Kyle's life and work:
