Album: An Intersection of Human Rights and Community Arts for The Pan Am Path

The Pan Am Path is an 83km trail connecting Toronto’s communities: an active-living legacy of continuous path for walking, running, biking and wheeling. The Art Relay takes artists from across the city to animate and activate sections of the trail. Red Dress Productions and Arts Etobicoke collaborated to produce Album, a permanent public artwork for The Art Relay, in conjunction with Friends of the Pan Am Path and Amnesty International's Project: Urban Canvas—a mural series celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Album is inspired by Article 16 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights -- Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and have a family -- and aims to expand the notion of family to include people of all genders, sexual orientations, and families of all compositions as defined, created, and chosen by families.

THANKS!
We particularly want to recognize and thank the founders of Friends of the Pan Am Path for working over many years to create The Pan Am Path and Art Relay, a visionary project of colossal scale which has afforded opportunities to countless organizations, artists, and communities across Greater Toronto from north Etobicoke to Toronto's lakeshore to Scarborough east. A heartfelt thank you to Friends of the Pan Am Path, our presenting partner Arts Etobicoke for yet another wonderful collaboration, and Lambton House for hosting our unveiling event.
